Mother’s Day falls on Sunday this year, and is celebrated on May 11, 2014. If you’re planning on writing a poem for you mother, perhaps inside of a nice Mother’s Day card.

 Mother’s Day honors mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It falls on the second Sunday of May. For more on this special day, we’re joined in the studio by my colleague Zhong Shi.

Internationally, Mother's Day is a day for celebrating motherhood by honouring mothers and matriarchs within our families. This honouring of maternal bonds, originally started out in America in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial to commemorate her mother. This later resulted in Mother's Day being established as a recognised holiday in the United States as of 1914, and it wasn't long until this worthy celebration spread worldwide.

The festival Mother's Day, also known as Mothers Day, will be celebrated on 12th May and in 2013, 2nd Sunday of May. Mother’s day has recently become popular in China.
